Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists: Background
According to a survey by MHA completed in 2004, 81 of Minnesota's 138 hospitals relied on Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) working alone for the delivery of anesthesia. There are no anesthesiologists at these facilities. An estimated 70,000 surgical procedures are performed at these hospitals every year.
